Before joining PT Gelora Djaja, the manufacturer of Wismilak Premium Cigars, he headed Indonesia's government run tobacco marketing operation in Bremen, Germany, from 1988 to 1995.

In Bremen, Mr. Pangestu, who, unlike most Indonesians is a cigar smoker himself, staged auctions to sell the filler, binder and wrapper leaf favored by most of the European market. For many years before 1998, he headed quality control for the Indonesian government's tobacco production agency and, as a consultant, advised European manufacturers about which tobaccos were best suited for their product.

His expertise, which is dedicated for PT Gelora Djaja, is an intimate knowledge of the characteristic of each type of tobacco leaf, and how to combine them to achieve a balance in flavor and strength. He applied his experience and knowledge about tobacco and cigars to produce the Wismilak Premium Cigar.

Like an artist, Mr. Pangestu used all of his artful skill and experience to create the cigar's flavor and character. His tobacco selection and weighting process has resulted in the perfect combination. An accomplishment he is extremely proud of.
